General Information

The New Jersey Department of Health's WIC Office oversees two Farmers Market programs: the WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.

WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program

The WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) works with authorized local farmers and authorized farmers markets to provide unprepared, locally grown fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs for the nutritional health of New Jersey’s women, infants and children while expanding public awareness and use of the local farmers’ market. Annual funding determines the number of WIC participants the FMNP serves each year.

Each eligible WIC participant receives $50.00 for the season to purchase locally grown fruits, vegetables and herbs from authorized farmers. Participants receive their FMNP benefits during their regular visit to the local WIC agencyGrocery stores and other food markets cannot accept WIC FMNP benefits.  The FMNP benefits are issued one time for the entire season from June 1 to September 30. The household’s FMNP benefits can be accessed using the QR code generated by the local WIC agency. FMNP benefits can be redeemed from May 1 to September 30 each year.
